PURPOSEFUL DESIGN MATH, SCIENCE, SPELLING AND BIBLE SUPPORT SPECIALIST


Cindi is the Textbook Training and Development Coordinator, and she currently trains teachers and teacher trainers. She has also taught various elementary grades, focusing on fifth and sixth grade. Cindi taught Purposeful Design Math for eight years to her fifth grade students. At the end of the year, she found that her students were more advanced in critical and abstract thinking and had a much stronger understanding of fractions. Cindi’s strengths include good classroom management and creativity. She loves kids and is passionate about Christian education. She also enjoys drama, singing, traveling, swimming, and spending time with her grandkids. Cindi provides webinars for schools in teaching Purposeful Design Math, Science, Spelling, and Bible. She also organizes all of the Purposeful Design regional trainings around the country. Cindi is a resource available to administrators and teachers who are using Purposeful Design Textbooks.

Purposeful Design Math and Science Trainer



Rebekah is a second grade teacher and a Purposeful Design Math and Science Trainer. She also leads worship/singing for elementary and high school chapel each work. Rebekah is a kinesthetic learner who loves teaching in fun, active, and engaging ways for every learner in her classroom. She is an organized person who loves to plan, but she also loves to embrace the chaos and spontaneity that a classroom brings each day. Outside of school, Rebekah enjoys planning the piano, hiking outdoors, being involved in the praise team at her church, cooking and entertaining, and playing disc golf. She finds that Purposeful Design textbooks are a valuable took that helps her create lessons that allow her students to take an active role in their own learning.

JUNIOR HIGH BIBLE TEACHER

ACSI Student Assessment Program Trainer

   
Gina teaches Bible to junior high students at her Christian school. She also serves as the 7–12 Guidance Counselor, curriculum director, and district test coordinator for her school. Gina’s greatest strengths are clearly communicating high expectations for all students, connecting new learning to old knowledge, and developing critical thinking skills in students. Outside of school, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family. Gina uses ACSI Data Online to get a broad overall picture of how her school is performing and pinpoint areas for further investigation. She loves having the ability to dig deep and find the detailed information she needs in order to make recommendations for improvement. Gina’s school also uses ACSI Data Online as another piece of information to help gifted students and students with possible learning disabilities.

THIRD GRADE TEACHER

Heather is a third grade teacher and a Purposeful Design Math and Science Trainer. She is passionate about engaging her students and creating an excitement for learning. Outside of school, Heather enjoys traveling with her family and supporting her kids in their activities. Her son is a swimmer and her daughter is a dancer, so she spends a lot of time at the pool and in the studio. Heather currently uses Purposeful Design Science in her third grade classroom. She loves the Biblical approach of the curriculum and the hands-on approach to learning. Heather’s class also has science lab once a week to enhance learning.

FIFTH GRADE TEACHER

Purposeful Design Math and Science Trainer

   
Jendi is currently a fifth grade teacher, but she has also taught second grade and elementary special education. Her greatest strength is meeting her students’ individual needs through the use of differentiation and tailoring instruction based on strengths and weaknesses. Jendi considers herself to be highly organized and consistent in terms of classroom management, record keeping, grading, and interactions with her students’ families. Outside of school, she enjoys shopping, cooking, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family outdoors. Jendi has been using Purposeful Design Math with several small groups of students, and has seen a tremendous improvement in her students’ problem solving and critical thinking skills. “When taught in asystematic and effective way, I believe all students can obtain mathematical confidence when learning by the Purposeful Design Math series.”

Pam is the lead third grade teacher at her school. She enjoys teaching math and science and providing a variety of learning strategies. Pam says she is improving on using technology in the classroom. She also encourages a positive community and teaches peer support in many projects. Outside of school, Pam enjoys spending time with her family, the outdoors, and swimming for exercise. Pam uses Purposeful Design Math, Science, and Spelling in her classroom. She uses many of the suggested activities, experiments, and manipulatives to support the teaching process.

Dedra is a middle school science teacher. She also teaches language arts, math, and earth science. Her strengths are communicating in a way students can understand, and developing and maintaining a safe, structured environment where learning takes place. Dedra enjoys reading and spending time with her family. Dedra’s school has used Purposeful Design Math since its initial publication.

Jennifer is a Grade Level Textbook Editor at ACSI. She also taught fourth grade at a Christian school. Her strengths as a teacher are encouragement, creativity, and building relationships with her students. When Jennifer taught fourth grade, she used the original Purposeful Design Bible curriculum, and her school also used the Purposeful Design Math and Science series. Outside of school, Jennifer enjoys baking, singing, and playing guitar.

Nancy was a Grade Level Textbook Editor at ACSI. She also taught kindergarten and second grade at a Christian school. Her strengths as a teacher are creativity in making lessons appeal to students, as well as teaching to a variety of learning styles.

Karrie teaches a combined fifth and sixth grade class. She is also the yearbook advisor and field day organizer, and she assists with professional development for staff members. Her strengths include teaching in multi-grade classrooms, creating effective differentiated instruction, and leading by example. Outside of school, Karrie enjoys outdoor activities, gardening, serving her church, and raising her two boys. Karrie uses Purposeful Design Math, Science, Bible, and Spelling in her classroom.

Lezlie is an elementary and middle school counselor at her Christian school. She also oversees attendance, assessment and curriculum ordering. Her strengths include communicating with students and organizing tasks. Outside of school, Lezlie enjoys running, reading, and spending time with her family. Lezlie’s school uses TerraNova 3 for student assessment and ACSI Data Online to analyze student progress.

Kimberly is a fifth grade teacher. Besides teaching, Kimberly is the Athletic Director and Girls Volleyball and Basketball coach. Her strength is engaging her students in a deeper learning. Outside of school, Kimberly enjoys spending time with her family.
